Old Religion of Ireland
Basic Program

Ours is a personal growth and academic program that requires individual dedication and application. While much of the course material is provided, additional study and research of academic resources is necessary. Many references are available through the public library system, especially among College and University libraries. Also, there is a growing amount of material becoming available over the Internet.

 Course Contents
Even though this is a course by correspondence, we work hard at providing the personal touch. We try to make our training as close to in person teaching as possible. We want the individual to feel like a valued family member. Thus, we strive to develop close personal relationships with each student, through the use of e-mail, regular mail and Internet chats. We also strongly encourage attendance at our annual Temple gathering, where the individual can meet Instructors, other students and members of the Temple in fellowship and ritual.
Another key element of our program is individual research. While we teach our own body of material, we want the student to learn to do independent study and find his or her own truth. Thus we stress learning good research practices so that he or she can separate the wheat from the considerable chaff that continues to be published.

There are 13 monographs of study. Included are meditation exercises, pathworking, ritual and reading assignments, as well as a required written examination that must be completed and posted to the Instructor. Upon receipt of a satisfactory examination, the next monograph is provided to the student.
During the course of the Program, three study papers are required. The subject of the papers is generally a matter of instructor/student discussion prior to assignment.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their peers and Temple representatives at least once a year at the Temple of Danann gatherings. These are held annually at a central location. Such meetings provide the chance for the individuals to meet fellow students, instructors and members of the Temple family.
